PONY-O Ponytail Holders: How to Use BUN BARZ to Create a Salon-Worthy Bun

There’s a reason the bun is such a tried-and-true hairstyle: It can be worn for more casual outings or elegant events, and works with all kinds of hair types. However, doing a bun the old-fashioned way — with bobby pins, elastics, a donut form or even a sock — takes time. Not to mention, it doesn’t always stay put, especially if you’re working out or say, dancing the night away.

That’s why we invented BUN BARZ — to create the ultimate bun. Here’s what we love about them: They’re easy-to-use, they make hair look fuller, and they’re super secure, even with fine hair. And, like the PONY-OBUN BARZ won’t damage your hair.

How to Use BUN BARZ

Step 1: Pull your hair back into a ponytail using a PONY-O. We recommend using the PONY-O 2.0, which is our thinner version of the original. (If you need help putting in your PONY-O, we’ve got you.) You can put your PONY-O anywhere on your head, depending on where you want your bun to sit.

Step 2: Center your hair in between the BUN BARZ. Then, use two hands to clamp it tight.

Step 3: Pull the BUN BARZ towards the end of your ponytail, stopping just before the shortest layer of your hair. Then, roll it forward, towards your face.

Step 4: Once all of your hair is rolled up and the BUN BARZ is at the base of your ponytail in a horizontal position, bend the ends back so they overlap at the back of your head. Give it a good, solid squeeze. And in the words of Kris Jenner, “You’re doing amazing, sweetie!”

Step 5: Use your thumbs and your pointer fingers to gently pull your hair around the BUN BARZ, so it’s completely covered. If you want a tighter bun, you’re done! But if you want it a little bigger or a little messier, gently tug on a few strands around the BUN BARZ. Then, give your bun another little squeeze to tighten it back up.

How to Remove BUN BARZ

When you’re ready to take your style down, simply move your hair on the BUN BARZ from the back to the front. This should expose the ends, and you can pull open the Bun Bar so it’s horizontal on your head. Then, unroll it to release the hair in your ponytail.

Seriously, BUN BARZ are that easy. And, they’ll sit comfortably on your head all day — absolutely no headaches. Whether you’re wearing your bun to work, to run errands or to a wedding, it’s going to stay put and it’s going to look like you just came from the salon.
